CNC Freight Services arranged an air-charter of B747-20F aircraft for urgent oil well equipment from Norway to Labuan, Sabah for Kontena Nasional Global Logistics recently. The ultimate receiver was Murphy Sabah Oil Company Ltd and the Tads Fairleads was for a deepwater offshore platform at Kikeh.

Working with a short window of 6 days starting from March 28 (Friday), using the services of Air Partner a member of the WCAPN network, UK we were able to charter a freighter aircraft into Oslo for flight date on April 2.

It was not without its problems. The original plan was for the Aircraft to land at Trondheim airport which was closest airport to supplier’s factory. Due to our man’s inspection of the equipment at Trondheim airport (which was carried out immediately on arrival on March 31st), we found that the highloader was out of operations and waiting for spare parts to repair. Having the aircraft to land at Trondheim would be a disaster as there was no proper equipment to load our cargo.

We responded by quickly changing the airport of loading from Trondheim airport to Oslo airport through on Monday March 31st. The trucks has earlier been arranged for load out from factory on March 31st to arrive Trondheim airport on April 1st morning. With the decision made on change of airport, trucks were instructed to move straightahead to Oslo airport.

The trucks arrived on April 2nd   early morning and all the cargoes were prepared well in time to meet aircraft arrival.

Aircraft arrived on April 2nd at 1555 hrs and loading was completed by 1730 hrs. Flight arrived at Kota Kinabalu airport early morning April 4th and was cleared and rushed on the last ferry to Labuan with trucks finally arriving Labuan late evening.
